Covid-19 and therapy sessions
Since the beginning of my career as a psychotherapist, my priority has always been to ensure that I provide a safe space for the therapeutic work to take place. In light of this, and due to the ever-changing nature of the Covid pandemic that we are navigating together, I have taken the decision to offer my services on an online only basis for the foreseeable future.
My name is Foteini, I am a relational, integrative psychotherapist and I help people who want to journey from surviving life to enjoying and embracing life to its fullest.
I grew up in Greece and my passion for psychology and psychotherapy brought me to the UK where I have lived for the last 19 years.
I celebrate difference and I love working with people of different cultures, races, ages, sexualities, religions, abilities, education, social class, body sizes and professions.
This plurality of views helps me honour and celebrate our uniqueness and individuality, and appreciate the complexity and multiplicity of truths that shape us in helpful or limiting ways.
I am deeply humbled by the strength of the human spirit and the common thread that connects every human being: our innate, universal need for relationships.
how I work
At the heart of my work lies the conviction that no matter what has happened to us in the past, we can heal in the presence of a safe and supportive other. In this way I endeavour to honour your struggles and accompany you during challenging and searching times.
I work collaboratively as I believe that clients have deeper wisdom they need to listen to and my role is to support you to tune into that wisdom, as you move forwards in seeking out more mutually satisfying relationships.
I follow a strengths-based, de-pathologizing approach in my work, as I believe that problematic behaviours are in actuality creative forms of communication and coping, that are trying to give voice to what has happened to us, in an attempt to resolve painful and traumatic experiences that do not yet feel resolved.
As a relational, integrative psychotherapist I draw from an array of ideas that may be useful to understand how past experiences might be casting a shadow over the present, prohibiting you having a more fulfilling life and deeper relationships.
Of equal importance to me is the present and how your immediate world of others is a cause of joy and happiness or sadness and regret.
Furthermore, I am curious about the future, in terms of how your future might be drawing you to make choices in your life that will bring greater fulfilment and help you move forward in your life.
If you feel that my words resonate with you in some way, and would like to see if my services can be of help to you, then I encourage you to contact me either by phone or email to schedule an initial assessment that will give you the chance to see if you feel that we are a good enough fit to work together.
I look forward to hearing from you.
