Welcome I’m Foteini,

Thank you for visiting my page and I hope that my services can be of help to you.

I am a relational, integrative psychotherapist practicing from my online consulting room, seeing clients who live in the UK and around the world.

My aim is to help improve the quality of my clients’ lives. The individuals that come to see me, often note a persistent feeling of not belonging or fitting in, even when everything seems to be ok on the surface. Others describe spending years feeling not good enough or unlovable.

I have worked extensively with clients that suffer from trauma and loss, anxiety, depression, feelings of emptiness and inadequacy, co-dependency issues and self-destructive behaviours. My experience also includes supporting individuals who are identical or fraternal twins, and who have found this to be a source of happiness, or distress, or challenge.

My sincere hope is that I will be able to meet you where you are in life, and that together we will find your way back home. Feel free to contact me for an initial meeting, to see if I can be of help you. I’d be delighted to hear from you.

how I work

At the heart of my work lies the conviction of the healing power that human connection holds. Our primary need for relationships are indispensable to a healthy sense of self, so when our world of relationships becomes neglectful in childhood or non-reciprocal in adulthood, then our mental well-being becomes thwarted. In this sense, whilst relationships can cause human suffering, they can potentially heal and restore that which has been neglected or broken within us.

Utilizing the hopeful message that “no matter what has happened to us in the past we can heal in the presence of a safe and supportive other”, I strongly believe that finding the right therapist, who can provide a nurturing, holding space, can help you resolve emotional pain, traumatic memories, grief and sadness.

I follow a strengths-based, de-pathologizing approach in my work, as I believe that self-destructive behaviours are in actuality creative forms of communication and coping, that are trying to give voice to what has happened to us, in an attempt to resolve painful and traumatic experiences that do not yet feel resolved.

qualifications

I am a professionally qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

My initial professional qualification in the field of mental health was a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, from University of Surrey.

I completed a foundation year at Regent's University London, where I studied the fundamentals of psychotherapy and counselling.

I received my MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy (validated by Middlesex University) and a Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute after a comprehensive, four-year training.

My training also includes completing in depth courses in trauma, attachment and neuroscience, as well as formal training in youth counselling (Surrey Youth Counselling Service), bereavement (Cruse Bereavement Support & OCNW) and eating disorders (NCfED). Prior to my journey in psychotherapy, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Industrial Management & Technology from the University of Piraeus in Greece.

My clinical experience includes working over 14 years as a psychotherapist in the NHS, charities, educational organisations and private practice.

I have provided clinical treatment for adults at Portsmouth Counselling Service, Cruse Bereavement and Metanoia Counselling & Psychotherapy Services.

I have also provided therapy to young people as a youth counsellor at Surrey Youth Counselling Service/NHS, and as a student counsellor at Farnborough College of Technology.

If you feel that my words resonate with you in some way, and would like to see if my services can be of help to you, I encourage you to contact me either by phone or email to schedule an initial assessment that will give you the chance to see if you feel that we are a good enough fit to work together.

I look forward to meeting with you.
